CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL WITH CERTIFICATION
Psychotherapy should be performed by a qualified person with a completed medical or psychological education whose knowledge and skills have been verified by an attestation exam after several years of health care practice. A clinical psychologist can competently diagnose whether the client's problem can be influenced by psychotherapy and which psychotherapeutic approach will be the most effective in the given situation. Depending on the client's difficulties, life history and personality characteristics, the clinical psychologist assigns specific or combined psychotherapeutic care.
Main psychotherapeutic directions
PSYCHOANALYTICAL PSYCHOTHERAPY
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy deals with the influence of internal tension and past experiences on current difficulties and disorders. The psychotherapist gradually directs the client to become aware of these influences and process them, thus managing them.
BEHAVIORAL PSYCHOTHERAPY
Behavioural psychotherapy is based on the premise that difficulties and disorders are learned reactions. Based on the laws of learning, the therapist helps the client reduce or completely eliminate the amount and frequency of unwanted behaviour.
COGNITIVE PSYCHOTHERAPY
Cognitive psychotherapy points out the connection between the client's problems and his/her way of evaluating events. The psychotherapist directs the client to create a way of thinking or philosophy of life that helps him/her prevent or solve problems.
ROGERIAN
PSYCHOTHERAPY
Rogerian psychotherapy is based on the assumption that there is an innate tendency to self-realise in every person. The psychotherapist facilitates the client's acceptance and fulfilment of his/her own possibilities through a specifically conducted interview.
HYPNOTHERAPY
Hypnotherapy is used to induce a relaxed state (relaxation in the mental, motor and vegetative areas) or to act with specific therapeutic suggestions for various adverse symptoms and conditions.
ECLECTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
Eclectic psychotherapy is a combination of other psychotherapeutic principles and methods. The therapist combines different methods as he/she sees fit in the given case.
